Dr. Susan Parr, Au.D., Owner and Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Susan Parr, Au.D. is a Board Certified audiologist who specializes in assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Parr also holds a Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification and a Concussion Certification from the American Institute of Balance. Hearing problems occur in every age range, from birth to geriatrics. Dr. Parr can perform a complete assessment which includes: audiometric testing, auditory processing testing and rehabilitation, tinnitus evaluations, counseling and retraining therapy, otoacoustic emission testing, industrial hearing screenings, dizziness and balance testing and therapy, hearing aids and middle ear evaluations. Dr. Parr enjoys satisfying patients who have not been happy with previously fit hearing aids by using the most advanced technology to individually custom fit the patient’s hearing loss, needs and life style.

Dr. Parr was the owner of Parr’s Pro Hearing Services, a multi-office practice in Huntingdon and Lewistown, Pennsylvania for twenty years performing all aspects of a clinical and industrial audiology practice. Additionally, she has been the Director of Audiology in hospital settings.

Dr. Parr earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education and Spanish from West Virginia Wesleyan College, a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders with emphasis in Audiology from the Pennsylvania State University and Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida. She was a Course Director for the Council for Accreditation Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and is American Board of Audiology (ABA) certified. Dr. Parr served on the Board of Directors for the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), Regional Captain for State Leaders for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), President and Treasurer for the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology (PAA), Northern Regional Representative and President for the Georgia Academy of Audiology (GAA), and a fellow of the National Hearing Conservation Association. Dr. Parr has presented at ADA, AAA and PAA conventions on Advocacy and Private Practice, The Role of the Preceptor and Private Practice Audiology. She has served as Adjunct Professor for the University of Pittsburgh, Bloomsburg University and Towson University. Currently she is an Adjunct Professor for Piedmont University in Demorest Georgia teaching Intro to Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation. Dr. Parr has organized and participated in several Hearing Aid Missions to Mexico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Parr has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology receiving the 2009 George Osborne Honors Award in recognition for her outstanding contributions to the profession of audiology.
